With the deteriorating humanitarian conditions and cases related to the repatriation of Syrian young people from different countries, people of Shiran and Ain Al-Arab (Kobani) living in Algeria have released a distress appeal, through the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, calling for taking an immediate action to save their children who have been deported to Libya.
The families have clarified that their children endure inhumane situation in prisons whose guards do not respect the basic human rights or international laws.
The appeal reads “we, the families of young people of Shiran and Ain Al-Arab (Kobani) in Algeria, appeal to international authorities and human rights organisations to interfere immediately to save our children who were deported to Libya, ignoring human rights or international laws.”
The families have confirmed that over 40 young people, who were arrested in Algeria five months ago for their irregular immigration status, were deported to Libya under coordination between the Libyan and Algerian governments, instead of settling their situations.
The families have also stressed that their children are struggling with harsh detention conditions in prisons in Libya, including torture, inhumane treatment, lack of medicines and spread of diseases, confirming that their children are among over 600 prisoners from African and Asian countries.
The families have appealed, through SOHR, to the international community and human rights organ.
