Israeli and Syrian officials met and the agreement between Israel and Syria will be published in full in the coming days

SANA: Representatives of the governments of Israel and Syria met and discussed; “ways to strengthen regional stability” were discussed.

Syrians celebrated the fall of the regime of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and an ally of the Islamic Republic on December 12, 2024.

The Syrian state news agency, SANA, reported that Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Refugees, Asad Hassan al-Shaibani, met and discussed with an Israeli delegation in Paris on Tuesday, August 18.

According to SANA, the meeting discussed issues including reducing tensions, non-interference in Syria’s internal affairs, monitoring the ceasefire in Sweida province, activating the 1974 agreement, as well as ways to strengthen regional stability.

SANA says that the talks were brokered by the United States.

According to the report, the talks are part of diplomatic efforts to maintain Syria’s security, stability, and territorial integrity. The SANA report is a rare move by the Syrian government to acknowledge the talks between Israel and Damascus.

Israel has previously attacked Syrian government positions and Bedouin forces it supports in support of the Druze.

Republican US Congressman Joe Wilson criticized Israel’s attacks on Syria in late July and called on Israel to focus on the Islamic Republic of Iran. Wilson said that the Islamic Republic’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei is “the head of the snake” and that Israel should focus on the “head of the snake.”

“The real enemy is [in] Tehran,” he told Fox News Digital.

Wilson said Israel and Syria should work together and that US President Donald Trump would defuse the situation.

The United States has repeatedly expressed its support for the new Syrian government that came to power after the fall of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and has called for improved relations between Israel and Syria.

Assad's flight to Russia has dealt a severe blow to the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has always supported rebel and non-state armed groups in the region.

In addition to seeking to improve relations between Syria and Israel, the United States is also supporting Lebanon in disarming the heavily armed Hezbollah group, which is supported by the Islamic Republic.

The United States has also told Iraq not to approve a plan that would strengthen the militia groups supported by the Islamic Republic
